Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions

How accurate is Korean text recognition?
The tool uses the Tesseract OCR engine for Korean text. Clean printed text achieves high accuracy, but for handwritten or low-quality images, we recommend using the preprocessing options.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The Tesseract.js WASM engine runs directly in your browser. Neither images nor extracted text are ever sent to a server.
Why does it take time on the first use?
On first run, the OCR engine (~4MB) and language data (Korean ~1.5MB, English ~3MB) are downloaded. All files are served directly from this site (no external CDN), and subsequent runs load from the browser cache.
When should I use preprocessing options?
These options are worth trying when a photo is blurry or has a busy background. Binarization (black & white) tends to help on clean documents and scans, but on low-contrast, shadowed, or colored-background photos it can actually make recognition worse — which is why it is off by default. Compare results with the option on and off, and keep whichever reads better.
